What Makes Our Scores Different
Every LegalFacts score is built on verifiable evidence—not paid placements, anonymous reviews, or opaque algorithms.
Official Records First
State bar records provide the authoritative source for license status, admission dates, and disciplinary history—the foundation of every score.
Third-Party Verification
Client reviews from independent platforms and peer recognition from established legal organizations contribute objective, unbiased signals.
Deterministic Scoring
Transparent, reproducible calculations with no black-box algorithms. Every score can be traced directly to the underlying data that produced it.
Corroboration Required
Multiple sources are cross-referenced and discrepancies are flagged. A claim that cannot be corroborated does not improve a score.
How We Calculate Scores
Scores are built from ten weighted pillars, each tied to independently verifiable data sources. No pillar is opaque and no weight is hidden.
License status and disciplinary history with the state bar.
Years admitted, education, advanced degrees, and practice areas.
Public reviews across Avvo, Google, and Yelp — weighted by volume.
Documents in the Disclosure Pack verified by the LegalFacts team.
SuperLawyers, Best Lawyers, Rising Star, and Avvo endorsements.
Case volume, sustained practice, and documented outcomes.
Board certification and focused practice area distribution.
Disclosed fee structure and availability of a fee agreement template.
Response sentiment from reviews plus Q&A activity on Avvo.
Publications, speaking, bar committees, and Q&A contributions.
What Each Score Range Means
Scores are expressed as a percentage from 0 to 100. Without attorney verification, scores typically cap at 90—verification unlocks the final 10 points.
Top of the profession with verified Disclosure Pack documents.
Exceptional credentials, recognition, and outcomes.
Strong across most pillars.
Solid record with room to verify a few signals.
Established practice; data gaps to address.
Significant gaps or concerns — review before engaging.
Without verified Disclosure Pack documents, scores are capped at 92. Verifying credentials—bar certificate, board certification, malpractice insurance, fee agreement template, and case declarations—lifts the ceiling and unlocks the Elite Verified tier.
The Verification Advantage
Anyone can claim impressive results. Verified attorneys prove them. Our Documentation Disclosure Pack allows attorneys to substantiate their credentials with official documentation.
Current bar standing confirmed with official documentation
Case outcomes attested under penalty of perjury
Board certifications validated with certificates
Malpractice insurance confirmed active
Fee structures disclosed for transparency

The Problem With Other Rating Sites
Most attorney rating platforms were not designed with the client's interest as the priority. LegalFacts was.
Most rating sites
- Accept payment for premium placement
- Rely on unverified, self-reported data
- Use opaque algorithms that cannot be audited
- Reward marketing spend over actual performance
Our commitment
- No paid placements—ever
- Every score traceable to specific, verifiable data
- Transparent weights and reproducible calculations
- Performance and ethics determine rank, not advertising budgets
